Naleng Real was born in a non-Christian family. She is the youngest in the family. She has been an orphan since she was three years old. Her mother died of starvation during the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia and her father went missing during the war. She has eight siblings, but five died from starvation during the Khmer Rouge war.
Read her full testimonyNaleng has a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from the East Asia School of Theology in Singapore. She also has a Bachelor Degree in English Literature that she earned at Norton University in Cambodia.
Naleng Real has served in different ministries since 1994 in roles such as Translator, Worship Leader, Sunday School Teachers’ trainer, ministry volunteer, Kairos facilitator and as a member of the Haggai faculty and board.
For nine years Naleng Real served with the Assemblies of God doing translation projects, seminars, Christian resources and bible school materials.
She has also served in WVI (World Vision International) in Cambodia for 9 years as a Christian Formation Coordinator. World Vision still connects with her for consultancy work when it fits with her field as needed by the organization.

Naleng served as a volunteer in Worship Ministry and Sunday School Teacher before she went to Bible school in 2002. Recently, she is involved in Church Planting and also speaks in Youth Fellowship, and as a translator and interpreter when required at church.

Naleng has translated books, Bibles and training materials into Khmer since 1994. She also interprets live, standing beside the speaker so a room of Cambodian believers hears every word as it is said.

Naleng's voice reaches well past the room she is standing in. She records for Words of Life, and she has appeared live on Krusa FM 99.5, where the program streams as it airs.

The church Naleng attends in Phnom Penh plants churches in Takeo province, and she travels with the team. A good deal of that work happens sitting on a mat with children who are hearing about Jesus for the first time.

Naleng led worship long before she went to Bible school in 2002, and she leads it still. She speaks at church gatherings and youth fellowship with her Bible open, in her own language, to her own people.

Naleng coordinates the EEC program that hosts a Master of Leadership from East Asia School of Theology, and she serves on the Haggai faculty and board. She was elected vice-president of Haggai International Association in Cambodia in 2017.

Naleng chairs the board of Precious Women Organization, which works with young Cambodian women. In 2020 the organization marked 10 years, and gave her an award for that service.

Naleng earned a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies at East Asia School of Theology in Singapore, and she returns there for the graduations of students she now helps teach. Her ministry has also taken her to Australia, America, Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai, Lao and Vietnam.
